Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)

Hey readers!

I have to admit that, last Friday was quite a night. As planned by me, I decided to gather all my closest friends in one birthday dinner. We had dinner at The Alexis and everyone that I invited were there. Except for two person because they have something else to do.

Due to massive traffic, I was quite late but we managed to hang out there until late. Its really good to have good friends and positive people around me. So that I won't feel negative or unnecessary feelings. I am blessed for that.

Now that I'm officially twenty three. I feel old and I can feel that there's something big are waiting for me. Do I look old? No right! I love the 'Rainbow Cake' that I bought for myself. The taste and colors are awesome. If you want your birthday cake looks exactly like mine visit here. I bet just like that you will feel you're sixteen again.

Another great thing are I received a lot valuable birthday's gift. I got 'Fujifilm Instant Camera', 'Lady Gaga's Born This Way CD', body shower and a mug. Thanks guys. That really means a lot to me.

Thank you guys for making my twenty third birthday alive!

Captain America: The First Avenger Movie Review

Hey readers!

And now marking the fifth installment in the Avengers pre-series, “Captain America: The First Avenger,” has finally graced the screen in all its patriotic, Nazi-ass-kicking glory. Nazis. When it comes to cinematic villains, they're at the top of the list. (Or is it the bottom?)

Captain America adalah lakonan Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan and Dominic Cooper. It's 1942 and World War II is well underway. For the frail, asthmatic and symptom-prone Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) all he wants to do is join the fight, but he's been denied at every turn. Yet, he has heart and determination, and won't take "no" for an answer. This determination earns him a spot in the Army after being recognized by Dr. Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci) as a perfect candidate for a super soldier serum he's devising.

The central battle at the film's core is not against Hitler, instead the villain here is Johann Schmidt (Hugo Weaving), a commander in the German army responsible for weapons development and one so scary he even makes the Nazis nervous. Schmidt has been using his post as an opportunity to search for the ultimate power, a rumored power cube from the gods. This cube glows blue and is apparently pretty powerful stuff, but the audience is never given much information on it outside of a bunch of unintelligible mumbo-jumbo that I couldn't make heads or tails of.

But within this fiction you can find some resonant themes. We learn that everything that really made Steve heroic was already inside him before they pumped him full of experimental serum. He stands up to bullies. He throws himself on (what he thinks is) a live grenade to save his fellow soldiers. He's polite and generous and self-effacing and … well, just the sort of guy you'd like to represent your country in times of trouble.

Additionally wooden is Hayley Atwell (The Duchess) as the film's love interest Peggy Carter. And as appealing as she may look, her character is dull as a board, often accompanied by a blank stare. The numerous and obligatory action sequences are made up mostly of slow-motion shots of Evans jumping either on or off of moving vehicles. There are explosions and anachronisms aplenty but overall, the plot is fairly basic, delivering only the bare necessities in terms of storyline.

It’s been a hit or miss summer, but Captain America is a huge hit. This is what a summer movie should be, filled with good performances and fun adventure and brisk storytelling. All of a sudden I’m excited for The Avengers again.

I comment this movie (4) ★★only.

Hanna Movie Review

Hey readers!

There’s one type of film that great directors make: great films.Hanna is kind of artsy-fartsy and more than vaguely a chick film, but it’s one that kicks so much ass, is so exciting and thrilling and awesome.

Hanna adalah lakonan Saoirse Ronan, Eric Bana and Cate Blanchett. Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) is sixteen and has grown up with her father Erik (Eric Bana) in the wilderness in Finland. She has been trained to hunt, fight, and survive, obtained from a robotic education thanks to Erik reading the encylopedia to her at bedtime. But she also takes brief glances through a battered copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales. She’s been raised to be an incredible soldier/spy but is now having to live in a world she doesn’t understand and to deal with a lethal woman from her father’s past.

With a flick of a switch on a remote control, the CIA is now after Hanna, who is in turn after CIA operative Marissa Wiegler (Cate Blanchett). The CIA have captured what they believe to be just a harmless teenage female, when in fact she is one of the most dangerous teenagers they have come across, and the real hunt begins with Hanna's reintroduction into civilization. One particular encyclopedia entry that Erik reads to Hanna often is that of Laika, the dog that the Russians sent to space. She always wants the story to change and for Laika to return safely to earth. But she knows that this does not happen. Why is Hanna hunted by assassins? That’s the film’s big reveal, which isn’t much of a reveal at all.

This story reflects Hanna: an innocent being exploited by a government, sent out to complete a task knowing that she is not meant to return. It reflects Hanna's yearning for the innocent to be welcomed and loved, but instead, she is in the middle of a family affair and an aborted government experiment. Where Laika is a true account, the use of Grimm's Fairy Tales is an important reference that sets up a fantastic third act and an even greater climax that exemplifies the whole film.

The cast does a stellar job of selling what could’ve otherwise been a hokey mashup of genres.Director and star are totally in synch in terms of their vision for the film: Ronan plays Hanna with that wide-eyed and innocent worldly fascination you would imagine Rapunzel had when she eventually escaped the tower. But instead of long flowing hair, Hanna is packing some seriously kick-ass martial arts skills.Eric Bana is a solid actor, and here he is, yet again, solid in his performance as Hanna’s father; although his understated affections are a bit too understated to give the father/daughter dynamic a whole lot of poignancy. That’s okay, though: it would be reductive to turn this sort of femme-powered fairytale into a cliche about a young girl and her daddy issues.

All in all, Hanna is a truly fresh, unique, and exciting genre mashup. In an era where so many filmmakers are “re-imagining” things -- ultimately in ways we’ve seen before, or ways that feel more hollow than imaginative -- this film is a rare, and welcome, gem. It’s the kind of movie that leaves you remembering why you love movies.

I comment this movie (5) ★★only.

Bonnie & Clyde 03

Hey readers!

Its been a while since I met them. One thing I love about Ramadhan is we will gather with the loved ones or close friends. During Ramadhan we will start to think; Who should I Iftar with? Obviously we don't want to be alone, so great company are the right person to Iftar with.

Thanks to Fatima for inviting me to Iftar with Tinie and Ili Nadia. I met Ili Nadia once and surprisingly she turn out to be a good friend to talk to. Tinie and Fatima was a high school friends of mine.

Unfortunately, I can only join them for Iftar because I have to rushed back home to complete my assignment (believe me, I was stressed!). Till next time we meet girls!

"Broken (feat. Amy Lee)"

I wanted you to know I love the way you laugh
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain away
I keep your photograph and I know it serves me well
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain

'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

You've gone away, you don't feel me, here anymore

The worst is over now and we can breathe again
I wanna hold you high, you steal my pain away
There's so much left to learn, and no one left to fight
I wanna hold you high and steal your pain

[x2]
'Cause I'm broken when I'm open
And I don't feel like I am strong enough
'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

'Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

You've gone away
You don't feel me here anymore

We had our iftar at Michelangelo's and it was amazing. I love the food there. My meal are simply amazing and affordable. Its good to see that my best friends are enjoying their life. One with a new job in Monash Uni (gaji naik!) and another one busy chasing his dreams in the air! Proud of you guys.
